Attention Lexington Bloggers:

The good news about freelance writing and blogging is that you can do it from anywhere and on your own schedule – there is no need to quit your job unless you are ready to go full time.

There is an incredible opportunity for freelance writers in Lexington to write for Examiner.com – a popular website that is expanding and seeking local writers for a huge variety of topics, both Lexington and national.

I recently signed on as the “Budget Travel” writer for Lexington and am thinking of taking another topic.  Once you choose a topic, you run with it by posting articles several times a week and uploading photos. You are paid via a Paypal account based on ad revenue from your page.

This is not just another write-and-hope-to-get-paid internet position!  As soon as you are hired you are given a background check (which costs them money), complete tax forms, and undergo training by watching videos.  They start to invest in you right away as soon as you are hired – and of course it costs you nothing but your time.

Many of the writers for Examiner.com have been interviewed on TV or published books so this is a great way to get your name out there.

Topics

There is literally a topic for anyone with writing experience, from pets to nightlife, travel, local life….anything you can think of.  You can even suggest new topics if you are an expert on something that is not listed.  Of course the more popular the topic you choose the more money you are going to earn.

They are even looking for a “Lexington Italian Restaurants” writer.  You get paid to write about the Italian restaurants around town – seriously!

How to Apply

You can apply fairly quickly on the site – expect to submit a short writing sample about the topic you chose.

If you could please help out a fellow local writer – when you apply and see the screen above, please search for “Greg Rodgers” or Examiner ID # 35164 so that I get credit for the referral.

Plus, referral applications always look better than someone that just came in off the street.

Here is the link to apply.  If you get the position, I would love to meet up locally and talk about writing ideas. Good luck!
